Although this site has seen a decrease in writing, I’m still working hard behind the scenes with some great projects and clients.
Introducing The New Mojo Themes Website And Marketplace
Update: “Mojo reports that the site’s user base has doubled since the revered Brian Hoff redesigned it only a few months ago. Before the redesign, little birds told [the author] that authors could have their product on the frontpage for months and still not make a sale. The redesign seems to be at least one major factor in renewed growth and presumably better sales.” Read more here.
What was the overall goal of the redesign and how did you aim to make Mojo Themes stand out?
“There were three major tasks at hand when redesigning and rethinking the Mojo Website and Marketplace experience: Improved usability, simplified marketplace navigation / browsing, and creating a more unique and enjoyable experience that was lacking. At first we found ourselves moving far away from the brand that Mojo Themes had already established with their customers. It took us a few extra weeks of swimming in the wrong direction in order to see where we needed to be and where we needed to take it. With a fresh, lively coat of paint, beautiful typography utilizing webfont Proxima Nova, more engaging headlines and updated copy, dynamic experiences from page to page, improved marketplace browsing and rich interactions. We even gave the “Mojo Monster” a name. Say hello to Captain Horatio.”

Don’t forget to poke n’ play around with the live site. Also, will be posting and highlighting a few more recently launched websites this week and next, including The Bernard Press Obox Theme and Pulse Enterprise App Website redesign. Keep your eyes open.

Brian, it was awesome to work with you on the re-design. Nothing but awesomeness in everything you did. ha Thanks again for helping us raise the bar.
Hi Brian,
WOW! I love it. Awesome job. The colours are really nice and complimentary, as well as easy on the eyes. Plus, it just feels very polished and modern. :)
Tiny little side note, though…When I checked out the live site, I noticed this glitch on the main page. The “view more” link in the nav bar seems to drop below the bar, even when my browser is at full screen with plenty of space. I took a screen cap for you. You can see it here: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii142/CrimsonSkyGraphics/mojothemes.jpg
FYI: I’m using Firefox on a PC at resolution of 1440×900.
Hope that was of some help, although I hate to be the one pointing out an issue!
Regardless, though, awesome job. Love it.
Sarah
This looks brilliant Brian.
Digging the feel of the drop-downs and rounded type. The Sign Up button is nice too. No CSS3 transitions? :)
Sarah,
Thank you. I will certainly let the Mojo fellas know of the glitch. I or my company was the responsible for the actual markup and testing for this particular site but certainly like to see a polished and perfect design from concept to completion.
Michael,
Glad you like it. Actually the Mojo people responsible for the development side of things are still making changes and bringing in all the features over the next few days so stay tuned.
Brady,
Pleasure working with you and J.R. as well! You guys were great, helpful and patient – all which lead to a great redesign. I wish you guys the best of luck and sure we will be in touch ;)
Brian,
Ohh, okay. Well, still, great job on the design side of things, then! :)
A stand–out design of 2011. Hands down.
I’ve been waiting for this post! What a tremendous effort you’ve put into this project — and the results are fantastic! I remember the very early versions mimicked a much more European retro style (http://dribbble.com/shots/99110-Mojo-black-white) which I also adored. Either way, Mojo couldn’t have gone wrong with a Brian Hoff design.
When I saw the Dribbble shots I knew this work would be amazing…
Now, I see the online result and I’m amazed by the quality of your work (as usual)…
Lot’s of great ideas, I like the UI/UX, I love the art direction, well, you’ve made a great work.
This project should have been really interesting.
You are a great designer, no doubt.
Great job! Was waiting for a long time for the redesign. :)
Wow!it just feels very polished and modern.
Love the new design. Good job
Well done sir. Just one complain – right column in blog view is quite blury. Separation between the authors of posts doesn’t exist. On screenshots there is bigger gap between them but still – there should be marked at least some slight difference.
Great work overall tho.
Cheers :)
Hi Brian, I like that site… especially that monster that bring some kind of humanity.
FYI: please check out the main title YOU NEED A SPACE AFTER THE PARENTHESES.
It’s always in titles that those things occurs.

The colors and the graphics are awesome. However, the text portion does not have a balance to it. Their color is too light.
This re-design in wonderful….thanks for sharing.
Looks really, really great — seems like the SEO optimization is well-done as well.
Good design! don’t you think the drop down menus are too broad.
Looks terrific Brian. Nicely done!
Great use of contrast and spot colours (eg: the buttons) to draw attention to the most important elements on the page. Looks like you’ve definitely achieved your objective of improved usability.
