Sweet Tweets: Design Resources of the Week #26

Sweet Tweets is a weekend feature to The Design Cubicle highlighting some of my favorite, and other Twitterer’s design-related links discovered via Twitter throughout the work week – because having resources and staying up-to-date is important in growth and development.

Week of 11-23-09:

Cheat sheets for web designers and developers
“34 essential cheat sheets for the most popular web based technologies.”

How to get more brand exposure, traffic and sales on Facebook
“With the right set up, you can effectively use Facebeook to gain more brand exposure, traffic and sales and in this article I’ll guide you through how I personally use Facebook to do this, along with some other alternatives.

Things you must do before launching a new site or blog
Launching a new website can be an intense experience. Preparing yourself for the launch and making sure you’ve got all your ducks in a row will ensure that your launch is successful. Today, I want to discuss with you ten things you must do before a new site launch.”

Michelle Berryman: Designing Experience (audio)
“I finally got the pleasure to meet up with Michelle Berryman in person. I got know Michelle as a moderator at Core77 and also follow her closely on Twitter (@micberryman). Many Design Sojourn readers from the US would probably recognize her as the former president of the IDSA.”

How well do you understand CSS positioning?
“When people are new to css layouts there’s a tendency to gravitate toward positioning. Positioning seems like an easy concept to grasp. On the surface you specify exactly where you want a block to be located and there it sits.”

Learn about design, not just making things look pretty
“@cameronmoll: Seriously. It’s all fluff and no context, criticism, or thought. Just pretteh pretteh pretteh, and no why.”

Gifts for Designers
I discovered this link over the week and it turned out to be a hit on Twitter so I wanted to repost again. Looking for a gift for a designer? Yup, there’s a site for that!

How to effectively use color in your designs

Great, as always. I would say that the most useful article there is “Things you must do before launching a new site or blog”. Honestly, I have seen so many sites that, after launching, then scramble to do the things listed there.

    Thanks again, I love these.
